As a cisgender, straight, white woman, I recognize the responsibility I hold in providing therapy that is inclusive, affirming, and anti-oppressive. This commitment extends beyond my personal values and it reflects my ethical duty as a psychotherapist, in alignment with the standards set by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). These standards emphasize respect for human dignity, cultural competence, and client-centred care.
My practice is grounded in the belief that every person deserves to feel safe, seen, and respected, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, age, or ability. I strive to create a therapeutic space where all forms of identity are honored, and where the impacts of systemic oppression, discrimination, and marginalization are acknowledged rather than ignored.
I understand that language, culture, and lived experiences are constantly evolving, and I approach this reality with humility, openness, and curiosity. I do not assume to know every perspective, but I commit to continuous learning, asking thoughtful questions, and listening deeply to the voices of those who live these experiences. I believe that not knowing is never a source of shame, but failing to listen and learn can cause harm.
While my work is guided by CRPO’s standards, I also recognize that institutional systems, including those in mental health care, have historically failed marginalized communities. In my practice, I make intentional choices to go beyond the minimum, to actively challenge bias, resist discrimination, and centre the dignity and autonomy of every client.
I am also mindful of the financial barriers that too often prevent people from accessing care. My goal is to ensure that cost is never the reason someone is unable to access the support they deserve and I offer several low-rate spaces, as well as keeping a strong referral list of therapists who can provide pro-bono care if I am not able to meet your needs.
Whether you identify as LGBTQ2SI+, Black, Indigenous, a person of color, living with a disability, part of a marginalized faith group, or navigating systemic barriers related to poverty or class, you are welcome here. My commitment is to provide a space where your identity is not only respected but celebrated, and where your full humanity can be expressed without fear.
